Silicon Valley Latino (SVL) is committed to protecting the privacy of our readers, subscribers, and community members. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a California resident under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

01 · Who We Are

Silicon Valley Latino (SVL) is an Emmy-nominated independent Latino media company founded in 2011 and incorporated as an S-Corporation in the State of California. Our website is svlatino.com, operated by Silicon Valley Latino.

SVL operates as an integrated ecosystem of three platforms under common ownership:

The SVL Agency — thesvlagency.com — full-service creative agency
ShopLatino.Market — Latino business directory

ShopLatino.Market does not currently process payments. When paid features are introduced, transactions will be processed securely via Stripe, consistent with SVL's membership platform.

Information you provide directly:

Email address when subscribing to our newsletter through svlatino.com
Name, email address, and payment information when purchasing a membership through SVL's membership platform, processed securely via Stripe
Any information you voluntarily submit through contact forms or email

Information collected automatically:

Website usage data including pages visited, time on site, device type, browser type, and general geographic location — collected through Google Analytics 4
Cookie data that helps us understand how visitors use our site
YouTube engagement data when you watch SVL videos on our YouTube channel
Social media engagement data when you interact with SVL content on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram — each platform collects data according to their own privacy policies

Information we do NOT collect:

SVL does not collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or financial account numbers beyond what is required to process purchases through Stripe's secure payment system
SVL does not collect sensitive personal information such as race, ethnicity, religion, health data, or precise geolocation

SVL uses the information we collect for the following purposes:

To send our weekly newsletter and editorial updates to subscribers through svlatino.com
To process membership purchases through Stripe
To analyze website traffic and improve our content and user experience through Google Analytics 4
To respond to inquiries and communications from readers and community members
To understand our audience so we can better serve the Latino community of the San Francisco Bay Area, California, and beyond
To share relevant information among SVL's owned entities — Silicon Valley Latino, The SVL Agency, and ShopLatino.Market — for operational and community engagement purposes

SVL does not sell your personal information to third parties. SVL does not share your personal information with outside third parties for their marketing purposes.

Sharing among SVL-owned entities

SVL may share your information among its owned and operated platforms — Silicon Valley Latino (svlatino.com), The SVL Agency (thesvlagency.com), and ShopLatino.Market — for internal operational purposes, community outreach, and to better serve our audience. All SVL-owned entities are subject to this Privacy Policy.

SVL works with the following trusted service providers who may process your data on our behalf:

Stripe — payment processing for membership purchases (stripe.com/privacy)
Google Analytics 4 — website analytics (policies.google.com/privacy)
YouTube — video platform operated by Google (policies.google.com/privacy)
LinkedIn — professional social media platform (linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy)
Facebook — social media platform operated by Meta (facebook.com/policy)

SVL's website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to help us understand how visitors use our site. Cookies are used by Google Analytics 4 to track anonymous usage data such as pages visited and time spent on the site.

Right to Delete — you have the right to request that SVL delete personal data we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions
Right to Opt-Out — you have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. SVL does not sell personal information.
Right to Correct — you have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information SVL holds about you
Right to Non-Discrimination — SVL will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights

SVL distributes a weekly newsletter to subscribers who have opted in to receive it through svlatino.com. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email or by managing your email preferences through your account on svlatino.com.

SVL does not share or sell subscriber email addresses to outside third parties. Subscriber information may be shared among SVL-owned entities as described in Section 04.

08 · Data Retention

SVL retains your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. If you request deletion of your data, we will process your request within 45 days.

09 · Children's Privacy

SVL's website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@svlatino.com and we will delete it promptly.

10 · Changes to This Policy

SVL may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
